This ability gives Kirby the ability to suck even harder than before (and you thought it wasn't possible), swallowing massive objects/baddies that block his path and allowing him to perform some otherwise un-weilding platforming. I completed the game with just over 60 of the 100 sun-stones and want to return to the levels to collect them all.Ī new feature to this game is the 'supernova' ability that kirby receives from trees toward the end of the stages. The level designs are nothing spectacular, but the difficulty of bosses as well as finding the locations of the sun-stones does increase, which I found very nice. Each comes with a variety of moves, depending on if you're next to an enemy or how you are pressing the directional buttons/joystick. There are a lot of fun abilities, approximately 20 by my count. "A" to jump, "B" to suck, Down to swallow. The gameplay is standard Kirby and there isn't much to say that anyone familiar with Kirby doesn't already know. A straightforward and simple plot that Kirby has always used and perfected.
In order to advance to the top of the "Dream-stalk" on which Sectonia lives, the player must collect enough 'sun-stones', which are placed throughout the levels, in order to advance to the boss stages. The overall goal is to save King Dedede who has been stolen by a six armed minion of Queen Sectonia, a baddie wants to reck havoc on Dreamland. A "2D" side scroller, this is a standard Kirby game with a lot of great power-ups and interesting/fun uses of the 3D effect, such as hoping back and forth between the front and the back of the screen and bosses that travel between the planes. Players can also bounce along to beats to earn coins in the King Dedede's Drum Dash mini-game, battle a succession of bosses in the Arena mode, or use Download Play to join up to three friends for fast-paced multiplayer combat in the new Kirby Fighters mode. Kirby's new Hypernova ability lets him inhale extremely large objects, and new copy abilities let Kirby ingest objects and take on a variety of uniquely powerful forms, including transforming into a circus performer, a beetle, and an archer.Įach level in Triple Deluxe contains hidden keychains, and gamers can acquire more keychains and improved items by using StreetPass to exchange data. Players help Kirby as he attempts to rescue the kidnapped King Dedede, jumping from the foreground to the background and ingesting all manner of objects in a variety of side-scrolling levels.
